Greetings, Brethren! I, the most humble Keeper of the All-Seeing, All-Knowing, Almighty ICONOMICON!, have taken ill and have nothing to do but lie around in misery, drinking Theraflu like a fish drinks water. Therefore, besides studying and playing video games, I had time to put together this outstanding amalgam of iconographic divinity! Enjoy!

TEASERS:

The common cold is most often caused by infection with one of the 99 known serotypes of rhinovirus. In total over 200 serologically different viral types cause colds. Due to the many different types of viruses and their tendency for continuous mutation, it is impossible to gain complete immunity to the common cold. )

P.S. My Photobucket account (fnord777) which hosts the ICONOMICON! is set to expire. If any of ye faithful brethren would like to contribute to the continuing awesomeness of the ICONOMICON!, feel free to do so. I and the icons will be eternally grateful.

A friend of mine mentioned shows she was considering watching and mentioned TBBT; I, of course, had to give my two cents and, among other things, mentioned the awesome of Jim. This reminded her that she had taken a few pictures of him at Comic-Con (at the panel with a bunch of stars that he did with Johnny, most of the shots include him) because he was so adorable even if she didn't know who he was. She went scrounging around and found them for me. They aren't the bestest -- as again, she didn't know who he was, and had a crappy angle -- but there are a couple of majorly adorable shots. Hopefully, she gets into the show because she's actually a professional photographer and when she's in to a celebrity, she works really hard to get amazing shots at events. So, behind the cut!

I don't know if I'm supposed to post here but does anyone know where I can find the special features from the dvd's? I can't seem to find them anywhere on the internet.

So, I don't generally care for portmanteau shipnames, but I came up with "Woloppali" earlier tonight and I was so amused that I spent the next 8 hours making this wallpaper. Click the thumb to go to my LJ and get the fullsize (and leave me a comment) and read a bit of a ramble. I know it's a ridiculous looking wallpaper, but I promise, it's totally on purpose. :)

Hello! I'm new here so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Hilary, I'm 23 years old and I live in Perth, Australia. I haven't shaved my legs in about four years, and about six months ago I shaved my armpits for what I hope was the last time ever. I'm really excited to be a part of this community, because with summer on its way I'm not sure how much support I'll be getting from people around me when I start wearing sleeveless tops. I haven't yet told most of my friends that I've stopped shaving, and although I know I at least have the support of my wonderful boyfriend, I don't know what everybody else is going to say.

I'm especially nervous today because I'm meeting with a rather conservative but very close friend this evening for dinner, and she doesn't know I've stopped shaving my pits yet. I think she's going to freak out a bit when she sees me, and I'm not looking forward to her reaction :(

I'd also like to know people's thoughts on displaying their hairy pits at formal events. I'm going to an engagement party for another close friend of mine on Friday night, and I can't for the life of me decide what to wear. Do I go with my favourite strapless cocktail dress, or should I buy myself something new that covers things up a bit? Personally I think there's nothing wrong with my hair, but I know that the rest of the world tends to see things a bit differently. I don't want to gross my friend out on such a special occasion, and I don't really want to spend the evening defending myself against a million and one condescending questions. But I have to show them off some time, and I'll be damned if I give up wearing my favourite clothes just to please other people. I hate hate hate that I feel like I can't just be me!

So, ladies (and gents?), any advice?

To be fair about my paralyzed reaction to this sort of contact, I had no idea how to deal with boys, despite being about 13 and having almost only male friends. Up until that year (when Gareth noticed I was female), I was...um... I had a singular style, and never had to think about boys beyond how much I enjoyed hanging out with them and playing Ren and Stimpy on Sega Genesis.

In order to draw this comic, I did a little research into bottle-base sidewalks. They were made to illuminate the basements below the city buildings, because NYC is so crammed that it's mostly built up and down. Turns out, there are a TON in downtown Manhattan, where I was a kid. They exist in other cities too, but they aren't that common, anymore. What's really sad is that a lot of them are wearing away-- the prisms busting out and breaking. But look: aren't they fascinatingly beautiful?

Title: The Vocabulary Conundrum
Author: Jenn (~stargated)
Spoilers: Some early Season 3 happenings.
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 Because Hank likes to swear with the big words.
Word Count: 1745
Disclaimer: TBBT locations, characters, etc do not belong to me. Henrietta "Hank" Ward is a product of my imagination. Rachel Bilson belongs to herself.
Comments: After a very long, very interesting weekend I have finally gotten a chance to write Scene 8. A few people asked for an explanation as to why Hank likes Sheldon, and vice-versa, so I decided to address that in this scene, along with a little look at the beginning of the end for Leonard and Penny.

Scene One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven (A). (B). (C). (D). Eight.

Are you saying she's not a good kisser? )

All of the principal characters from Alice in Wonderland -- including the Caterpillar voiced by Alan Rickman -- are displayed in this lovely new article. Johnny Depp and Linda Woolverton (who wrote the screenplay) also provide a few enthusiastic words at the bottom of the pages:
